Mechanical Pipette
Mechanical pipettes are divided into standard, advanced, and advanced plus series. The standard series is half autoclaved, and the advanced plus is fully autoclaved.
Each of the Mechanical Pipettes includes a single-channel adjustable volume, single-channel fixed volume, 8-channel adjustable volume, and 12-channel adjustable volume. Customers can choose different pipettes according to their different needs.
Features
- Volume control: Can be calibrated to deliver specific volumes of liquid, which can be adjusted using a volume control mechanism. This allows for precise and accurate dispensing of liquids.
- Ergonomic design: Many mechanical pipettes are designed with ergonomics in mind, with features such as comfortable grips and lightweight materials that reduce strain and fatigue during prolonged use.
- Disposable tips: Use disposable tips, which can be easily attached and removed from the pipette body. This reduces the risk of contamination and allows for quick and easy changes between different samples.
- Accuracy and precision: Mechanical pipettes are designed to be highly accurate and precise, with many models able to deliver volumes as small as a few microliters with an accuracy of +/- 1%.
- Easy maintenance: They are generally easy to maintain, with many models featuring simple disassembly and cleaning procedures.
- Versatility: It can be used for a wide range of applications, from basic laboratory tasks such as mixing and dilution to more advanced procedures such as PCR and cell culture.
The mechanical pipette consists of several key components:
- Plunger: The top part of the pipette, usually operated by the user’s thumb, which is used to control the aspiration and dispensing of the liquid.
- Volume adjustment: A dial or mechanism on the pipette body that allows the user to set the desired volume of liquid to be aspirated.
- Ejector button: Located on the side of the pipette, it is used to release the disposable tip after use.
- Tip ejector collar: Some pipettes have a collar that can be rotated to eject the used tip.
- Shaft: The elongated portion of the pipette that houses the internal mechanisms.
- Tip: A disposable plastic or polypropylene attachment at the lower end of the pipette that comes into contact with the liquid being transferred. Tips come in various sizes to accommodate different volume ranges.
- Volume indicator: A small window or display on the pipette that shows the set volume, which can be adjusted by the user.
- The operation of a mechanical pipette typically involves the following steps:
- Set the desired volume: Using the volume adjustment, the user selects the required volume of liquid to be transferred.
- Aspiration: The pipette is placed into the liquid sample, and the plunger is depressed to the first stop, creating a vacuum that aspirates the liquid into the tip.
- Dispensing: The pipette is then placed into the target container, and the plunger is depressed to the second stop to dispense the liquid from the tip.
