A circulating water bath (also known as a thermostatic circulating water bath, heating circulator, or laboratory circulating bath) provides precise, uniform temperature control with active fluid circulation. Hawach super thermostatic baths are compatible with water or oil media and offer internal circulation (for uniform temperature within the tank) or external circulation (to supply constant-temperature liquid to external equipment such as jacketed reactors, spectrophotometers, or viscometers).
The 24 L capacity, 304 stainless steel inner tank, microcomputer LCD controller, and integrated circulation pump ensure excellent temperature uniformity and reproducibility for biological, chemical, pharmaceutical, and environmental laboratories. Models are available for both internal and external circulation, with water or oil media – all within RT+5°C to 100°C range.
| Use Case | Recommended Model | Benefit |
| Small lab / basic heating (samples inside the tank) | Internal circulation water bath (18201024) | Low cost, stable heating, uniform temperature field |
| QC / routine testing (needs to connect external devices) | External circulation water bath (18201025) | Flexible connection to jacketed vessels, photometers, etc. |
| Jacketed reactor / instrument heating (high-temperature oil required) | External oil circulation bath (18201027) | Efficient heat transfer to external equipment using oil media |
| Uniform incubation (oil-based, no external connection) | Internal oil bath (18201026) | Stable temperature field for oil-submerged samples |

All models: 24 L inner chamber (400 × 300 × 200 mm), RT+5°C to 100°C, 304 stainless steel tank.
| Cat# | Circulation | Medium | Pump Flow | Primary Use |
| 18201024 | Internal | Water | 8 L/min | Uniform heating inside the tank (samples, incubation) |
| 18201025 | External | Water | 6 L/min | Heated water to external equipment |
| 18201026 | Internal | Oil | 8 L/min | Uniform heating with oil media (internal) |
| 18201027 | External | Oil | 6 L/min | Heated oil to external jacketed reactors |
| Feature | Internal Circulation | External Circulation |
| Primary use | Uniform temperature inside the bath | Supplies heated liquid to external devices |
| Pump flow rate | 8 L/min | 6 L/min |
| Inlet/outlet ports | No | Yes (10 mm OD) |
| Best for | Sample incubation, sensor calibration, temperature testing | Jacketed reactors, viscometers, spectrophotometers, fermentation vessels |

Selection tip: If you only need to heat samples inside the bath, choose internal circulation. If you need to heat an external device, choose external circulation.
| Industry / Workflow | Typical Use | Recommended Model |
| Biotechnology / Life Sciences | Enzyme reactions, cell culture media warming, sample incubation | 18201024 (internal, water) |
| Pharmaceutical QC | Stability testing, dissolution (jacketed vessels) | 18201025 (external, water) |
| Chemical synthesis | Heating jacketed reactors, distillation | 18201027 (external, oil) |
| Analytical labs | Constant-temperature supply to spectrophotometers, refractometers | 18201025 (external, water) |
| Materials testing | Temperature cycling, property measurement | 18201026 (internal, oil) |
A standard water bath relies on natural convection, leading to temperature gradients. A circulating water bath uses a built-in pump to actively circulate the fluid, ensuring uniform temperature throughout the tank (internal circulation) or delivering constant-temperature liquid to external equipment (external circulation). Circulating baths provide faster heat-up, better uniformity, and the ability to heat jacketed reactors or analytical instruments.
Yes. Models 18201026 and 18201027 are designed for low-viscosity oil media (e.g., silicone oil). High-viscosity oil is not recommended.
RT+5°C to 100°C for all models. For higher temperature oil baths (up to 200°C+), contact us for custom solutions.
External circulation models (18201025, 18201027) have 10 mm OD inlet/outlet ports. Use standard laboratory tubing to connect to jacketed vessels, spectrophotometer cuvette holders, or other equipment.
How do I clean the bath?
Use the external drain tap to empty fluid. The 304 stainless steel tank can be wiped with mild detergent and water. For oil baths, use appropriate solvent-based cleaning.
