Product Overview
A refrigerated circulating water bath (also known as a low temperature thermostat bath, chiller circulator, or refrigerated circulator) provides precise temperature control from -40°C to 100°C with active external circulation. Hawach refrigerated circulating baths feature a fully enclosed compressor for fast cooling, low noise, and reliable operation. The built-in pump delivers constant-temperature liquid to external equipment (jacketed reactors, spectrophotometers, viscometers, fermentation vessels) via 10 mm OD external circulation ports.
Available in 5 capacity options (from 250×200×150 mm to 400×325×230 mm) and 5 temperature ranges (-5, -10, -20, -30, -40°C up to 100°C), with pump flow rates from 4 to 12 L/min. All models feature a microcomputer temperature correction, LCD display (0.1/0.01°C resolution), touch software for quick setting, and over-temperature alarm for instrument safety.

Frequently Asked Question
What is the difference between a refrigerated circulating water bath and a standard water bath?
A standard water bath provides heating only (up to 100°C). A refrigerated circulating water bath provides both cooling (down to -40°C) and heating, with active external circulation to deliver constant-temperature liquid to external equipment. It is essential for applications requiring precise temperature control below ambient.
Can I use this bath for both internal and external circulation?
No. All models in this series are designed for external circulation only. The pump delivers liquid to external equipment via the 10 mm OD ports. If you need internal circulation (uniform temperature inside the tank), please see our standard circulating water bath series.
How do I connect the external equipment?
Use standard laboratory tubing (10 mm inner diameter recommended) to connect the outlet and inlet ports on the bath to your jacketed reactor, spectrophotometer cuvette holder, or other equipment. The built-in pump will circulate the fluid.
What temperature range do I need?
Choose based on your lowest required temperature:
- -5°C -general cooling, most routine laboratory needs
- -10°C -colder applications, enzyme storage, mild cooling
- -20°C -many chemical and biotech applications
- -30°C -deeper cooling, material testing
- -40°C -ultra-low temperature, demanding cryogenic applications
All models also heat up to 100°C for combined heating/cooling workflows.
How do I choose the capacity?
Smaller capacities (7.5-10 L) are suitable for benchtop use and smaller external equipment. Larger capacities (15-30 L) provide greater thermal mass and longer run times for large jacketed reactors or multiple external devices.
What is the pump flow rate?
Pump flow varies by model: 4, 8, 10, or 12 L/min. Higher flow rates are recommended for larger external systems or when long tubing distances are required.
