Features, Production Process, and Selection of 8-Strip PCR Tubes
Many researchers encountered problems in their experiments, either because the cap is not tightly closed, or most of it evaporates. Today, HAWACH will discuss the advantages that 8-strip PCR tubes can bring.
Features of PCR 8-strip tubes
1. The PCR 8-strip tube adopts an optical flat cover, which makes the whole cover look smooth and bright without any traces, which greatly improves the time passing rate of the PCR detector.
2. High-polishing precision technology increases the light transmittance of the tube cover, which is widely used in fluorescence quantitative PCR experiments. The concave design of the cover can effectively prevent scratches and cross-contamination of the optical surface.
3. The pipeline has high cleanliness, is not easily deformed, and has low adsorption.
4. Medical grade PP material, free of RNase, DNase, exogenous DNA/RNA, endotoxin, pyrogen, and the extremely low adsorption of samples and reagents, to ensure the high-temperature resistance and accuracy of the reaction system.
5. The PCR 8-strip tube has the characteristics of a low evaporation rate, high sealing performance, and convenient opening and closing of the tube cover.
6. The special interlocking process design of the tube and the tube cover has a low evaporation rate and good sealing performance. It’s easy to open and close the tube cover, featuring convenient operation.
7. The experiment can be repeated.
8. Suitable for real-time PCR and general PCR and reverse transcription experiment consumables.

The production process of PCR 8-strip tubes
Product quality and the production process are inseparable. PCR experiments pay special attention to the wall thickness of the PCR material, and ultra-thin and uniform wall thickness uniformity is required to ensure the heating module. Transfer heat evenly to the samples in the PCR octal tubes to achieve the accuracy of the experimental results.
Light transmission of PCR tube
Due to the nature of most real-time PCR instruments, the light path needs to be conducted from the top of the consumable to the inside of the tube.
Production environment of PCR tube
To get the ideal result, it’s important to get the products produced in a clean production workshop. If the sample is contaminated with dirty materials, the experimental results will be very inaccurate. Investigating the cause is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Strict production quality control ensures the performance of each batch.
How to choose the right PCR consumables
1. Raw materials
8 strips PCR tubes are generally made of polypropylene (PP). Because it is a biologically inert material, the surface is not easy to adhere to biomolecules and has good chemical resistance and temperature tolerance (can withstand temperature changes during thermal cycling). These materials are usually in direct contact with reagents or samples, so high-quality materials and good processing techniques are required in the production and preparation process.
2. Volume
Most of the volume specifications of PCR tubes can meet the requirements of the PCR reaction. However, on the basis of meeting the experimental requirements, low-capacity tubes are preferred. Because the low-volume reactor tubes/plates have less overhead space, thermal conductivity is improved and evaporation is reduced. Too much can lead to reduced thermal conductivity, spillage, and cross-contamination, while too little can cause evaporative sample loss. You can choose the appropriate product according to the specific experimental requirements. In HAWACH, 0.1ml/0.2ml 8 strips of PCR tubes are available.
3. Color
Transparent and white 8 strips PCR tubes are of your choice.
The transparent eight tubes are mainly used in fluorescence quantitative PCR instruments with the bottom light source. The white octet tubes are mainly used in the new type of fluorescence quantitative PCR instrument that collects fluorescent signals on the top to prevent the fluorescent signals from being transmitted to the module and avoid being absorbed or inconsistent reflected signals. Improved sensitivity and consistency of repeat experiments.
According to the style, it can be divided into a full skirt, half skirt, and no skirt. The non-skirted version is a universal type and can be adapted to most PCR instruments/fluorescence quantitative PCR instruments, but not suitable for automated applications after cropping. The half skirt provides sufficient support during heating and resists deformation and bending. The full skirt can completely cover the edge, more suitable for automatic operation.
4. Selection of PCR tube cover
The flat cover can provide accurate fluorescent signal transmission for qPCR; it is easy to write and mark; the cover is easy to close, the sealing is good, and it is easy to operate.
The convex cover is in contact with the thermal cover of the thermal cycler, which reduces the deformation of the reaction tube caused by pressure and better prevents the liquid from evaporating.
