Characteristics of Vacuum Filtration

The vacuum filtration device is currently widely used in the laboratory for solid-liquid separation, liquid clarification, sterilization, and impurity removal. When performing the above operations in traditional laboratories, a conical funnel is generally used, matched with a filter paper of any size, and the liquid to be filtered is poured into it, and the liquid is passed through the filter membrane by natural infiltration and gravity. Up to now, there are many laboratories operating by this method. The primary feature of vacuum filtration is that it uses the classical oil-free pump with sand core filter bottle combination, which is suitable for most laboratory filtration needs of universal filtering products.

However, natural filtration relying on gravity and osmosis has great disadvantages. The pore size of the filter membrane will cause greater resistance to the liquid. If a nano-level filter membrane is used, or the solid content in the filtrate is high, the filtration speed will be extremely high. Slow, and even the filtrate can barely pass through the membrane.

The vacuum filtration device is a solution to the above problems, which can help greatly improve filtration efficiency. Hawach provided the Glass Six-Branches Vacuum Filtrations, Standard Diaphragm Vacuum Pumps, and Anti-Corrosion Diaphragm Vacuum Pumps for your choice. The following takes Hawach’s best-selling vacuum filtration device as an example to briefly introduce its principle. The three main components are the suction filter pump, the vacuum suction filter bottle, and the filter funnel.

The suction filter pump is connected to the suction filter bottle through the pump tube, and the filter funnel is inserted into the top of the suction filter bottle. When the power supply of the suction filter pump is turned on, the equipment will pump the air away from the suction filter bottle to achieve a certain degree of vacuum, so as to realize the suction filter bottle. There is a certain pressure difference between the internal and external environment. This pressure difference will cause the external air to push the filtrate through the filter membrane. Since the air inside the suction filter bottle has been partially pumped away, the resistance becomes smaller, so the filtration speed will be significantly faster than natural infiltration filtration under the same conditions. This method of removing part of the air in the suction filter bottle is also known as vacuum suction filtration, vacuum suction filtration, negative pressure filtration, and other names.

In addition, some customers may worry that the excessively fast filtration rate may damage the filter membrane or the particulate matter that needs to be retained. This worry is unnecessary. First of all, from the beginning of the design, a compliant filter membrane support sheet has been designed according to the characteristics of vacuum suction filtration to ensure that even when the ultimate pressure of the entire system is reached, the filter membrane support sheet can also provide an excellent foil for the filter membrane. Any damage occurs. Secondly, most of Hawach’s filtration system products are equipped with regulating valves, which can adjust the pumping force and pumping speed according to actual needs.

The features of vacuum filtration

1. There is no need for any working medium (no oil pump), so it will not cause pollution-free. At the same time, the gas exchange bin of the machine has filter material built-in to ensure the purity of the air.

2. Because of the uniformity of the pore size, new technologies, and new materials are used in the production process. It is easy to move and work smoothly, and the product can guarantee the ideal vacuum and high airflow rate, so the filtration rate can be greatly increased.

3. The body is designed with a self-cooling and exhaust system, which can ensure 24-hour continuous operation.

4. Installed with a thermal power-off protector, when the temperature of the pump reaches 130 degrees Celsius, an automatic power-off can protect the motor from damage.

5. The friction-free motion of the membrane will not generate heat and will not cause friction loss of the diaphragm. The diaphragm is made of imported rubber, which is corrosion-resistant and has a long service life.

6. An automatic cooling and exhaust system is designed to ensure 24-hour continuous operation. Moreover, Teflon is used to treat the surface of the anticorrosive pump contact with the gas, so it has complete chemical corrosion resistance.

7. The pressure-adjustable design can meet the vacuum degree and gas flow rate within a certain range.

8. The bearing adopts an imported classic bearing, which has stable operation, low noise, and high work efficiency.
